Visit to Shirgaon fort ( Palghar ) and two forts on Kelawe beach.





Just 13km from Palghar station stands the majestic fort of Shirgaon. The fort, steeped in history, lords over the sea and a village. Marathas won this fort in 1739 along with the forts of Dahanu, Kelve and Tarapur. The Portuguese had dominance over this fort before Marathas. In 1818, the British captured this fort from the Marathas. The fort stands about 200feet tall and spans more than 150feet.
A visit to this historical fort during is incomplete without a swim in sea it watches over. Just five km away is the well-known Mahim Sea.
There are two small forts at Kelave beach , one fort stands on a rock in the sea , this fort have very different architecture compared with other sea fort on western coast of India. Another fort is hidden inside suru plantation.

Fees : Rupees 150 for members , and Rupees 200 from others .

Dahanu local - 07. 57 A. M. from Borivali.

09. 30 AM - Breakfast at palghar
10.00 AM - Shirgaon Fort
12. 30 P.M - Lunch
02 . 00 P.M. - Kelave Beach .
02.30 P.M. - Fort on a rock.
04.00 P. M. - To Safale station to catch train... or stay on the beach till sunset.

Note: Carry ample water , cap , sunglasses.
Though this is very easy trek avoid sleepers and high hills
